Infant FAQs

What age-group is The Creative Curriculum for Infants designed for?

This curriculum is designed to help educators and caregivers promote granular skill development during the critical period of development from birth to 11 months. Progress the learning in additional age groups with The Creative Curriculum for Toddlers, The Creative Curriculum for Twos, The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, and The Creative Curriculum for Pre-K.

What if I have a mixed aged classroom with young learners from 0 to 27 months?

Choose the curriculum designed for the age range of the majority of the children in your care. Each curriculum includes digital access to the full set of Skill Development Cards for both infants and toddlers, allowing teachers to start with resources designed to meet the needs of the most children and then adapt activities for the developmental levels of older or younger children.

  • If you have children in the 0–18-month range, but the majority are in the 10–18-month age range, we recommend the toddler curriculum.
  • If you have children in the 0–18-month range, but the majority are in the 1–6-month age range, we recommend the infant curriculum.
  • If you have children in the 0–27-month range and are not sure what is right for your classrooms, please contact a member of our team to determine the best curriculum choice for your program.
  • If you have children in the 24–36-month range, we recommend our twos curriculum.
What makes The Creative Curriculum for Infants unique compared to other infant curricula?

Developed in response to feedback from our customers, The Creative Curriculum for Infants is a groundbreaking print and digital solution that provides tools, resources, and support to empower every teacher, whether new or experienced, to easily individualize the developmental support offered to each child.

How does your curriculum empower teachers to support the unique needs of infants?

The Creative Curriculum for Infants provides teachers with personalized learning plans that are fueled by both our entry screener and ongoing guided assessments, so that teachers can nurture the granular skills that are attuned to each infant’s unique stage of development. Teaching Guides and pre-populated weekly plans include embedded videos and step-by-step guidance to support new and experienced teachers every step of the way.

What are the new foundational skills in this curriculum?

The Foundational Skills for Infants outlines the progression of fundamental skills that lay the foundation for future growth in four domains of development and learning: social–emotional, physical, cognitive, and language. Two more domains, literacy and mathematics, are introduced starting at age 1 with our The Creative Curriculum for Toddlers product.

What are Skill Development Cards?

New Skill Development Cards are guided activities that target foundational skills to support infants’ social–emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development. Our curriculum includes more than 300 cards that are available in print and also automatically recommended for each child digitally.

What is included in the Teaching Guides?

There are 3 full-color Teaching Guides included with this curriculum. Each Teaching Guide includes four monthly topics and provides weekly guidance to support responsive routines, meaningful experiences, and strong family partnerships.
