Thomas Yamamoto

General Counsel

Tom leads our legal team, oversees legal and compliance matters, and provides strategic counsel and legal guidance enabling mission aligned growth.

Tom brings an extensive background and track record of enabling people focused mission-oriented technology organizations like Teaching Strategies to excel.  He started his  professional career as an officer in the U.S. Navy and later supported U.S. government programs of national interest at Northrop Grumman.  As an attorney he helped Red Hat democratize software and most recently helped make global enterprise cloud developers’ and users’ lives easier at venture-backed Mirantis. Tom brings decades of leadership and deep enterprise SaaS experience from both a publicly traded company and high growth venture capital start-up to Teaching Strategies.

As the son of a public school art teacher, Tom experienced first hand how teachers can open doors for children to seed a lifetime of curiosity and possibility and is grateful to help Teaching Strategies empower childhood educators to maximize each and every child’s growth.

Tom received a B.S. in Political Science from the United States Naval Academy and J.D. from the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America.
