Staying in Touch with Families During the Coronavirus: How to Use Teaching Strategies® Resources to Extend Learning at Home

You may have seen or heard about our new free online toolkit for families, Healthy at Home: A Toolkit for Supporting Families Impacted by COVID-19, in the past week. This toolkit was created to help you get started supporting families during this time. We encourage you to direct families to this webpage and check back regularly for updates. We will continue to add resources from The Creative Curriculum® and ReadyRosie™  for families to use at home.

In addition, we want to highlight the resources found throughout our suite of Teaching Strategies® products that can help encourage families to nurture their children’s development and learning while schools are closed. Some of these features even spread the word about the Healthy at Home toolkit to families!

Because the educators we serve use different combinations of the products we offer, we’ve recorded a series of videos that demonstrate how teachers and administrators can leverage existing resources in each of our products to engage, educate, and support families.

  1. Thanks for the resources! One of my family members posted video on the family connections but stated she didn’t see the learning games that I sent. I don’t don’t what they see after I send them. How can I support her? Also, once I sent an invite to all of my families, how do I know all have accepted? Once they get an invitation what does Teaching Strategies send them? It would be helpful if we saw or knew what it sent to them after the invite. Do they need the app? Is mighty minutes available to all of our families free? That would be awesome!

    1. Hello Stephanie!

Thank you for sharing your feedback! Although there is no confirmation sent once parents have accepted the invite, you should be able to interact and communicate with families through the new family observation feature. Also, you may share the Healthy at Home toolkit with families that provides free access to MightyMinutes® activities on a weekly basis. Although the activities change every week, there is an archive on the Healthy at Home webpage to access MightyMinutes® and LearningGames® for each week. You can access the toolkit here

      Thank you!

  2. Yes this is my first year as a First class PreK lead teacher and using GOLDs. Now that school has transitioned to at home learning how do we get the proper gold documentation needed to meet our checkpoint date and do we need to ask parents to help out by videoing their child doing a physical objective and send it to me?

  3. Are digital copies of the Intentional Teaching Experiences available to download and email to families?

  4. Thank you for the additional resources for my kiddos in 4’s preschool as we teach remotely. I have added some of the activities to the lessons my team has collaborated to create to go along withC4L and TSGold objectives. Can I forward Family Conference forms via e-mail easily to parents and if so how? We are finalizing checkpoints this week and I want to set up conferences soon as I have 31 students.
