What You Should Know:
The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) recently announced two new grants for Georgia Pre-K Program Providers: Georgia’s Pre-K Grant and the Quality Rated Restoration Grant.
These grants are meant to support pre-K classrooms by equipping programs to purchase technology, instructional materials, approved pre-K curricula, classroom materials, professional development opportunities for teaching staff, and more.
DECAL will award one-time grants of $5,000 per classroom to each Georgia Pre-K Program Provider. The goal is to enhance pre-K classrooms across the state by giving them funds to purchase new technology, instructional materials, approved pre-K curricula, and classroom furniture.
Georgia’s Pre-K Grant Timeline:
- September 2022: Notify pre-K programs about the grants and guidelines for purchases
- October 2022: Award grant funds
- March 31, 2023: Deadline for purchases
DECAL will award Quality Rated Restoration Grants to programs that are scheduled to be rated through its Quality Rated program between July 1, 2022 and December 31, 2023. The purpose of these grants is to support providers as they prepare for onsite observations.
Grant recipients will be awarded $5,000 for each eligible classroom (up to 10 classrooms), which can be invested in materials, equipment, and professional development opportunities for teaching staff. These grants also include $500 in bonuses for each eligible staff member after a star rating has been achieved.
Quality Rated Restoration Grant Timeline:
- August 2022: Eligible programs can apply for the grants
