The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, the most widely used pre-K curriculum in the country, brings a research-based, whole-child approach into early education. It’s proven to increase kindergarten readiness by focusing on academic rigor, critical thinking through investigative learning, and social–emotional skills.
The Creative Curriculum from Teaching Strategies is aligned to Georgia Learning Standards, Head Start frameworks, and Common Core. Recently, Head Start Consumer Report rated The Creative Curriculum higher than any other curriculum.

Our preschool curriculum is comprehensive.
Our curriculum covers all content areas critical to a child’s successful in preparation for kindergarten.
Our approach shows early childhood educators how to intentionally infuse literacy practices in their classrooms and use the environment to create literacy-related experiences.
In addition, The Creative Curriculum includes material that emphasizes the function of language as a tool to help children express their own thoughts and ideas and communicate with others.
Purposeful, focused opportunities nurture the development of mathematical skills, even in the youngest of learners.
Our curriculum includes resources that focus on mathematics and provide early childhood educators with guidance for incorporating math throughout the day and into interest areas.
Our resources help teachers support children’s ability to associate letter names and symbols with their sounds, understand that letter symbols are grouped together in a particular order to form words and experiment with writing letters of the alphabet in the context of writing for a purpose.
With our approach, children learn to recognize and name upper and lower case letters, beginning with the letters in their name.
Our approach helps teachers guide children as they learn to hear and discriminate between the separate sounds of oral language that are blended into ordinary speech (which plays a vital role in learning to read); notice and discriminate rhyme and alliteration; and explore sounds, syllables, and words by examining onset (the part of the syllable before the first vowel) and rime (the first vowel and everything after it).
Research shows that executive functioning and self-regulation are very strong predictors of school success.
Our approach incorporates and emphasizes development of these skills, offering daily opportunities to support, rather than direct, children’s behavior and enable them to develop their own regulatory skills.
The U.S. Department of Education estimates that nearly 25% of children entering kindergarten speak a language other than English at home. In Head Start programs, this figure rises to more than 30%.
Instructional strategies found within The Creative Curriculum® support children’s development of skills in their first languages. The included resources enable teachers intentionally to support children’s development in English and in their first languages, thereby helping children become confident, successful bilingual learners.
