Preschool Curriculum 

The Creative Curriculum for Preschool is an age-appropriate, play-based curriculum for 3- and 4-year-olds with built-in adaptability for accommodating children up to 5 years old.

Studies are in-depth, project-based investigations of topics that children find interesting. Each study is 20 days long and includes four weeklong investigations.

The preschool curriculum covers all areas that research shows as critical for children’s success, including language, literacy, mathematics, social studies, science, the arts, cognitive, physical, and social-emotional skills.

Yes. Our preschool curriculum prepares educators to best support all children, including those with disabilities, in public school, private school, homeschool, or private childcare centers. It implements a Universal Design for Learning teaching approach, which enables children with special needs to learn autonomously and demonstrate their skills.

Yes. Not only does the curriculum provide materials in both English and Spanish, but it also adapts the meanings across cultures, making them understandable for all children. The study topics reflect real-life experiences that are relatable for young children regardless of where they live. The Creative Curriculum for Preschool offers resources and guidance for supporting the varying needs of 3-, 4-, and 5-year-old children in a mixed-age preschool classroom. For example, instructional plans describe a daily small-group activity that focuses on language and literacy or math, perfect for use with younger children. Teachers of older children can also take advantage of a second suggested activity, so that those children receive instruction and practice in both content areas every day.

Teachers are encouraged to adapt activities to the needs and interests of the children in their class and to incorporate experiences, knowledge, and resources from their community into studies to make the investigations even more relevant and interesting for children. Our digital resources also offer teachers the ability to customize pre-populated daily and weekly plans or write their own learning activities.
