During this engaging 6-hour session, participants will be introduced to the science of reading research and the 5 Pillars of Literacy, examining how it applies to language and literacy instruction in preschool and pre-K. Through interactive large- and small-group experiences and individual reflection, participants will consider how to apply the science or reading research to enhance the classroom learning environment and engage young children in meaningful experiences that will nurture their language learning and literacy development. This session is appropriate for programs using any developmentally appropriate preschool or pre-K curriculum and will outline the alignment of the science of reading to the GOLD® objectives for development and learning. During this engaging 12-hour session, which combines our 6-hour offerings of Unlocking the Science of Reading and Applying Science of Reading to The Creative Curriculum Approach, participants will be introduced to the science of reading research and the 5 Pillars of Literacy, examining how it applies to language and literacy instruction in preschool and pre-K. Through interactive large- and small-group experiences and individual reflection, participants will consider how to apply the science or reading research to enhance the classroom learning environment and engage young children in meaningful experiences that will nurture their language learning and literacy development.
