Enhancing Interrater Reliability for GOLD®
30
Max Participants
Interrater Reliability is a process designed to verify a teacher’s ability to assign accurate and reliable assessment levels to observations and documentation of children’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Achieving Interrater Reliability means that a teacher’s assessment decisions align with those of the expert raters at Teaching Strategies® who developed GOLD® as a system to support ongoing, authentic, observation-based assessment. Achieving interrater reliability (or reliability for any tool) can be challenging. During this 3-hour session, participants will be introduced to helpful strategies for navigating the interrater reliability process successfully. Additionally, participants will be led by a Teaching Strategies® expert through a series of practice exercises, evaluating example evidence of social-emotional, physical, language, cognitive, literacy, and mathematics development and learning and hearing details on why a piece of documentation and the knowledge skills and abilities it reflects is assigned a particular rating. Note: Participants must complete Introduction to GOLD® prior to this session.
