Introduction to The Creative Curriculum® for Kindergarten

This highly interactive 1-day session introduces participants to The Creative Curriculum® for Kindergarten. Participants will become familiar with the 38 objectives for development and learning that inform every aspect of teaching. They will explore and practice using Mighty Minutes®, Intentional Teaching Experiences, Book Discussion Cards®, and Highlights High Five Bilingüe® with Book Conversation Cards®. Additionally, participants will learn how to implement a study. They will explore the benefits of using a Teaching Guide, learn about the three parts of a study, and understand how to integrate content into daily events through intentionally planned teaching experiences. Participants will also explore resources designed to support them at the beginning of the year, including The Creative Curriculum® for Kindergarten Teaching Guide: Beginning the Year and the Beginning the Year checklist. Designed for teachers, this 1-day session introduces participants to The Fidelity Tool Teacher Checklist, Second Edition or the Coaching to Fidelity Checklist for Teachers and the characteristics of fidelity of implementation of The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool. The Power of STEAM: Leading Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics Learning With The Creative Curriculum® for Preschool

STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics) serves as an integrative approach to teaching that allows children to explore, question, research, create, and discover. During this 6-hour session, participants will examine the many facets of STEAM and explore its connection to the objectives for development and learning. Educators will learn how to integrate science and technology throughout the day and will discover how in-depth, project-based investigations support STEAM learning in the preschool classroom. Participants will unpack strategies for teaching children about physical science, life science, the earth and the environment, and, through hands-on interactive activities, explore the four steps of the engineering design process.
